Occupation: Cleaner

A lot of people don't pay much attention to the cleaners' job or to them in a way of speaking. That's why littering or disregard of cleanliness in the society exist. But have you ever wonder how your facilities, neighbourhood, town, city or even your country would become without the cleaners around to do the "Tidy Up"? Please take some time to think about it.

Many people only how to talk about environmental awareness, but talk is talk, action is action. Anyone can talk about something, but who is going to do the job. Some people blame certain authority for not doing the clean up, but I ask you who is to be blame here? For any place to be clean, it must start with the individual mind-set and attitude. Don't just say its other peoples' problem, it's your responsibility too. Small action can really make a difference too. Just like the cleaners, they may be just doing their job, but they too are an Environmentalist.

Not just the Environment, Animals too need care from us. So this is where CAS or Care & Actions for Strays comes in. CAS is a group formed for animals care in Brunei Darussalam. This is the description of their group:

"A group of friends has set up "Care & Actions for Strays" aiming to improve the lives of the strays in Brunei. We have a mission to educate the public the importance of spaying/neutering to control pet overpopulation, against animals' abuse, killings, poisoning and pets ownerships' responsibility. There are many Bruneians who are still ignorant about Animal Welfare. We aim to educate as many people as we could and we need your support !"

Just looking for food

This photo is taken at one morning when i walk in to my school to work.
I titled it "Reflection". Remember what you do reflect who you are.

It's common to see Egrets at the Brunei River looking for food especially near to Kampung Ayer (Water Village). Believe to be migrated from the north, many Egrets stayed along the Brunei River. This is why it is very important not to pollute the river. Sadly many people living along the Brunei River doesn't know that the rubbish pollution on the river is actually affecting the river ecology and the wildlife living there. 

When I say rubbish pollution, I may not necessarily mean it is polluted by people living on the water village only, I also mean all those people who throw rubbish into the river from elsewhere. If you are one of these people, PLEASE STOP IT. Don't be ignorance. You seriously think that the rubbish will magically disappear in the river? And please don't say it's other people problem, my question is who? Please think properly. The wildlife there just want to look for food to survive, so please Keep the Brunei River Clean, Thank You very much.

Recycle Bin

Many have yet to adopt the culture of recycling, there are some who even treat this bins as a trash cans. Well at least for now not everybody but to those who are ignorance PLEASE STOP. This is not your ordinary rubbish bins, this is a "Recycle Bin", and It's for "RECYCLING".

Congrats University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) for having this recycle bins all over the campus. It can be a good practice. At least UBD starts to do it, and i hope it will extend to other higher institutions and schools in Brunei Darussalam.

BUT any good practice will be in vain if this Recycling Bin are for show only, and there will be no one to collect or empty it for Recycling in a long term basis. We educate our young ones to recycle but sometimes in reality nobody is there to sustain the project in the long run. 

(Forgive me if i'm being too direct in saying the truth).

Recycling will not be successful if:

-People continue to be ignorance.

-Nobody is there to sustain long term.

-No support

-Students are just doing the project to get a good mark in their study.

-It's for show only.

The recycle materials are in the bins for more than a year.

If this happen then the recycling bin will be smelly, an eyesore and a trouble. Please do not let this happen. If you want to start something, make sure you plan ahead, don't leave it and say its other people's problem in the future. Don't sweet talk you want to do something for the environment but in reality you are just saying it and you really don't care. We must all change our mindset and start caring, even in just delivering a message. Our Earth's natural resources are valuable assets to all Humans at any time, so value it. Thank you.
